Environmental and Sustainability Policy
Commitment
As a self-employed silversmith, I am committed to running a responsible and transparent business that
considers its impact on the environment and society. My aim is to continually improve sustainability across
all areas of my practice — from sourcing and production to packaging and customer care — while
balancing the needs of my clients, suppliers, and the wider community.
I believe in ethical craftsmanship that supports environmental preservation and social responsibility. This
policy outlines the actions I take to reduce my environmental footprint and contribute positively to a more
sustainable future.
Environmental Policy
I follow the principle of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle in every part of my work. This applies to raw materials,
tools, packaging, and production methods.
• Responsible Sourcing: I only use precious metals that are recycled or responsibly sourced from trusted
suppliers.
• Packaging: The majority of my packaging materials are either recyclable or made from recycled content. I
avoid plastic wherever possible and continue to review options for more sustainable alternatives.
• Energy Use: I actively monitor and analyse my workshop’s energy consumption and make changes to
improve efficiency. I use energy-efficient lighting, reduce standby energy use, and make informed choices
about tools and machinery that consume less power.
• Carbon Reduction: I seek to reduce greenhouse gas emissions throughout the production process.
• Green Investment: Where feasible, I invest in environmentally conscious technologies, workshop
improvements, and collaborations that support low-impact and sustainable making.
Sustainability Policy
I recognise sustainability as a long-term responsibility that includes material use, production practices, and
engagement with others in the supply chain.
• Material Efficiency: All metal offcuts and scrap produced during the making process are retained and
recycled, either through in-house reuse or returned to certified refiners. This helps close the loop and
reduces reliance on new material extraction.
• Traceability and Transparency: I source materials from suppliers who can verify the ethical and
environmental credentials of their products.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: I build relationships with customers, suppliers, and subcontractors who
share similar environmental and social values and look for opportunities to improve practices together.
• Ethical Considerations: Beyond environmental responsibility, I also consider the social and ethical impact
of my business. I do not work with suppliers that exploit labour or violate human rights standards, and I aim
to support small-scale, responsible artisans and producers where possible.
Continuous Improvement
I regularly review and assess my environmental and sustainability performance and seek out ways to
improve, both in my workshop and throughout the supply chain. As new materials, technologies, and
methods emerge, I remain open and committed to innovation that supports a more sustainable future.
By embedding these values into my business, I hope to create high-quality, ethically made silverware for my
clients.
